Meriam Park is a mixed-use traditional neighborhood development on 270 acres in southeast Chico. Meriam Park is composed of several neighborhoods, a commercial and civic center, all complemented with a variety of neighborhood greens, parks and plazas and a greenway along Little Chico Creek. Following environmental review and project approvals, development will be phased over 10-12 years.
Traditional Neighborhoods. With a mix of house types, sizes, and prices in a setting of slow-speed neighborhood streets.
Neighborhood Greens and Parks. Neighborhoods will contain a range of small parks and greens located within a 3-4 minute walk of every home and designed for informal gathering or play.
Civic and Commercial Center. The heart and creative center of Meriam Park will include shops and restaurants, office buildings, and a range of civic spaces and places.
Creekside Greenway and Habitat Preserve. The enhancement of the 20-acre Little Chico Creek greenway and the preservation of 40-acres of sensitive habitat and endangered species.
Meriam Park has been planned over a 3-year period, and several public planning workshops ("charrettes") have been held. A brief Timeline of Meriam Park and a look to the future can be found here.
